Marcus Balscheit began his career studying Architecture at RMIT University Melbourne. This was followed by a 1 year contract with Oswald Sealy Display managing visual merchandising before he branched out as a self-employed designer.
Over the following 10 years Marcus worked as Melbourne's leading promotional and party décor designer and installer. Gaining a reputation in the industry for his unique, cost effective décor designs using basic materials to dramatic effect. His talents extended from nightclub theme parties to corporate event promotions.
In the last 7 years Marcus has turned his focus to more permanent design, specialising in cafes, bars and nightclubs with most of his work referred to him by satisfied clients. Along with partner Daniella they also opened a mid-century modern furniture showroom. The largest, most well known of it's type in Australia - The House of Balscheit. This showroom took on a new dimension with mostly new furniture in 2003 under the Surround brand.
Surround Interiors showcases luxurious contemporary furniture and accessory ideas, glamorous lighting options and dramatic wall surface treatments, providing the indefinable combination of form, texture, light and colour applied to optimum effect for both commercial and adventurous residential clients.
